- The first Practical data Assimilation and Uncertainty Quantification (PAUQ) workshop was organised with great success in Orléans. It was a great pleasure to organise with my colleague Jérémy Rohmer, a 3-day workshop on practical approach to Data Assimilation and Uncertainty Quantification. A constructive occasion to bridge the gap between mathematical and geosciences communities and pose the questions around robustness of predictive models, for exploration, exploitation, risks, management and support to decision making. The presentations touched upon a large range of thematics : Geomodeling uncertainties, geophysical imaging, reduced order modeling, multi-physics integration, model validation, machine learning, Bayesian inversion, ensemble methods and decision making ; through real data in Geothermal, hydrogeology, oceanography, reservoir engineering and costal morphodynamics.
Thank you to Florian Wellmann, Mathieu Darnet, Olivier Le Maître, Kristian Bär, David Ginsbourger, Bruno Castelle, Arthur Vidard, Paolo Dell'Aversana, Véronique Gervais-couplet, Jo Eidsvik, Paul Mitchell, Ryma AISSAT, Geir Evensen, Cecile Coulon, for accepting to present at the workshop and the numerous attendees for the contructive and enjoyable discussions.
Also, big thanks to our sponsors : BRGM, Amiés (Agence pour les mathématiques en interaction avec l'entreprise et la société) and CNRS.
